Bob Kaplan has over 30 years of experience as a management consultant, senior executive and board member. His expertise is in the areas of strategy development and implementation, organizational effectiveness, and information systems and technology. As CEO of Motif, Bob leads the management team and board's efforts in defining strategies which capitalize on Motif's unique strengths in process reengineering, Six Sigma quality, and operational excellence.
Prior to Motif, Bob had a personal consulting practice where he worked extensively with CEOs in technology-based industries, financial services, and utilities. He also held a number of senior executive positions including acting CEO and CTO for venture backed companies. From September of 2002 to June 2005, Bob served as head of the Office of Information Services at Silicon Valley Bank.
From 1985 - 1995, Bob was a Director (Senior Partner) of McKinsey & Company, Inc. and was a leader of McKinsey's practice in information technology and systems. He also served major clients in the financial services practice. Before McKinsey, he was the Managing Partner of the San Francisco office of the Boston Consulting Group where he worked for eleven years. Bob's prior experience was at Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. (now KPMG) as a systems consultant.
Bob received his M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of Business in 1972. He completed all requirements, except dissertation, for a Ph.D. in computers and information systems, also at Stanford. He graduated with a B.A. magna cum laude with honors with exceptional distinction in economics from Yale University in 1970. Bob has also passed the California C.P.A. exam.
From 2005 - 2007, Bob was a member of the Technology Advisory Peer Group for the State of California. This was a group of private sector executives providing counsel to the state CIO as part of the Governor's Information Technology Consolidation and Realignment Initiative. He is currently a member of the board of directors of Bridge Capital Holdings (NASDAQ:BBNK), a member of the board of directors of REX & Co., a shared appreciation real estate equity investment firm, as well as a member of the board at ITM Software.

Mr. Desai has over 40 years of investment experience. In 1984, he founded Desai Capital Management Inc. (DCMI) which is a New York-based private equity investment firm that acquires or provides equity capital to growth companies. Since inception, DCMI has sponsored four institutional investment partnerships, each with committed capital between $325 million and $410 million.
Prior to forming Desai Capital Management Inc. in 1984, Mr. Desai managed an equity-linked investment fund for Morgan Guaranty Trust Company, an affiliate of J.P Morgan. During his 20 year tenure at Morgan Guaranty, Mr. Desai was responsible for the alternative investments program, which encompassed public convertible venture capital, real estate and natural resources securities.
In addition to managing his own investment firm, Mr. Desai serves as board member and director of several public and private companies which are involved in many and varied businesses such as Retail/Consumer Products, Healthcare, Telecommunications/Media, and Consumer and Financial Services.
Mr. Desai brings extensive experience in the areas of corporate governance, business strategy, and managerial leadership and organization.
Mr. Desai is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and was a member of its Special Task Force on South Asia. He is also a Trustee of the Asia Society, which among other things is dedicated to the furtherance of America’s knowledge of Asian countries, its diversified culture and people. He serves on the Board of The Independence Community Foundation.
Rohit Desai is a graduate of Harvard Business School (MBA), the University of North Carolina (MS) and the University of Bombay (BS).

Amit Shah focuses on early stage technology investments. As a Partner of Artiman Ventures, he is currently on the boards of Auryn, Sierra Design Automation, NetDevices, InvenSense, SiOptical and Zyme.
Prior to finding Artiman Ventures, Mr. Shah gained technology investment experience as a General Partner of Anthelion I & II, a seed stage venture fund. He also worked as Vice President of New Markets and Technologies for Cisco Systems' Business Development and Alliances Group. Prior to this, he founded and was CEO of PipeLinks, Inc., acquired by Cisco (1998). Preceding PipeLinks, he founded ZeitNet, a networking systems company which was acquired by Cabletron (1996).
Mr. Shah has taught numerous courses and conducted seminars on networking at University of California, Berkeley, InterOp, and other forums in the United States and elsewhere. He also authored FDDI: A High Speed Network, published by Prentice-Hall.
Amit Shah holds a B.S.E.E from M.S. University, Baroda and has done graduate work at the University of California, Irvine. |
