On Sunday, 3rd February, 2008, Motif held its 6th Annual Motif Charity Walk – 2008. Around 3,000 citizens of Ahmedabad came together in the early morning on this cold winter day to participate in a 5 km walk / 8 km run for a noble cause.
This annual event is close to Motif’s heart and
instills a great sense of pride in its
employees, all of whom volunteer to help
organize and execute it. As it always does, this
year’s walk started with a school children’s
band playing music, followed by the release of
hundreds of balloons into the air. Many
enthusiastic supporters cheered the participants
throughout the walk/run, creating a festive
atmosphere. The event ended with prizes
distributed under various categories for the
walk and the lucky draw. Every year, Motif
identifies a different beneficiary – a
not-for-profit charitable/social/non government
organization (NGO) working towards the
development of underprivileged children of the
city. This year, the two identified
beneficiaries were:
- Manav Sadhna
- Pratham Ahmedabad Education Initiative
Both these NGOs work for the education of the under-privileged children.
This year’s walk was a roaring success, with a
record collection of Rs. 17.52 lacs (US$
44,509). This amount was raised through sponsors
and individual contributions, including Motif’s
matching of each registered participant’s
contribution. The total amount raised over the
last six years now exceeds Rs.52.43 lacs (US$
122,096).
At the event, Kaushal Mehta, Founder and
Chairman, Motif, Inc. said, “It gives me immense
